The Pure Grenada Music Festival made a great first impression in 2016, due to its seamless production and imaginative use of venues, which included a floating stage in the Carenage Harbor and a cocktail-inclusive jazz concert at the upscale, private Calivigny Island (solely accessible by boat) complementing a diverse roster of acts. Don’t expect all-inclusive high-rise seaside resorts that are found in many Caribbean islands: Dominica’s environmentally conscious tourism brand offers smaller rustic hotels and guest houses along with an abundance of rivers, spectacular waterfalls, dense rainforests and mist-wreathed mountain peaks that will redefine the Caribbean experience for many travelers, as will the diversity of sounds heard at the World Creole Music Festival. Direct flights to Dominica are unavailable from the United States but the island is easily accessible through connections in Antigua, Barbados, and Puerto Rico. Reggae and soca are also prominently featured: Trinidad’s phenomenal soca outfit Kes The Band, Jamaican-American reggae band Morgan Heritage and German reggae star Gentleman appeared in 2016 alongside Akon, Wyclef Jean, Dominica’s legendary first lady of song Ophelia Marie and veteran bouyon band WCK. Inaugurated in 1997, the World Creole Music Festival celebrates French-Caribbean genres including Dominica’s indigenous lilting cadence-lypso and propulsive bouyon, zouk from neighboring Guadeloupe and Martinique and Haitian kompa. Ten mainstage acts made up the schedule for the 42nd annual Festival, and if there was a connecting thread through this diverse lineup, it was that artistry always came first.Best Camping Gear: Score Up to 30% Off During REI's Anniversary Saleĭominica World Creole Music Festival, Windsor Park, Oct. Nostalgia first began in the late 17 th century as a pathological disorder, one that manifested itself in those maladapted to the present and afraid of the future. "So you end up with a stronger feeling of belonging and affiliation, and you become more generous toward others." From The Beginning Constantine Sedikides, professor of social and personality psychology at the University of Southampton. "Nostalgic stories often start badly, with some kind of problem, but then they tend to end well, thanks to help from someone close to you," said Dr. Not only does nostalgizing, as the researchers call it, help us feel physically warmer when we do it we also feel more hopeful about our futures and emotionally closer to those around us. Reminiscing helps us feel better about the present and more hopeful about our future.Ī wealth of knowledge has arisen in recent years speaking to the idea that nostalgia has psychological and physiological benefits. This nostalgia is good for us in more ways than one, research shows. A man named Dave Harris played Santa for Frederick's for at least 30 years. We often greet our fondest memories with whimsy and longing - putting our follies of youth on replay to relieve the stressors of adulthood and soothe the aches and pains of a life punched up with deadlines. They had beloved restaurants and departments, including Frango milkshakes in the Paul Bunyon room, a cafe in the basement. Its location is now the Nordstrom flagship store. But it should be a moment to reflect on their distortions and how this use of history threatens to warp present-day politics. The occasion of Victory Day (or Victory in Europe Day), celebrated on May 8 in the West and at the turn of midnight on May 9 in Russia, will be an opportunity to repeat such gestures. If the United States could do that then, why could it not do a green industrial revolution today? Among both advocates of global financial reform on the left and defenders of mainstream multilateralism at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, references to the Bretton Woods conference of July 1944 are de rigueur. In the scramble for ventilators and personal protective equipment, countries have invoked the model of the war economy. Since his miraculous hospital recovery, Prime Minister Boris Johnson seems to want to be both Winston Churchill and Clement Attlee at the same time. In Britain, references to the war have been everywhere. It is ironic in a sense because, at least in Anglophone countries, COVID-19 has catapulted the war back into the public mind. In 2020, public health concerns kept them away. In 2015, the Western states had absented themselves from the mammoth 70th anniversary parades in Moscow and Beijing. It was to have commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazi Germany in World War II and the heroic fight of the Red Army in particular. One of the casualties of the COVID-19 pandemic is the great Victory Day parade that had been planned for Moscow’s Red Square for May 9. Quick note: In the command, replace "xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx" with the product key you want to use to activate Windows 10.We first touched upon this simple, free and open-source Mac SVN client over a decade ago, with plenty of new features and changes to dive into since then.Type the following command to reactivate Windows 10 and press Enter: slmgr /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx.To activate Windows 10 with a previous product key, use these steps: Or you can contact Microsoft support for assistance if the manual process isn't working. If the computer is no longer in service or connected to the internet, it's not necessary to use these steps since you should be able to use the product key on the new system without issues.Īfter deactivating the previous installation, you can use the product key to activate a new installation manually. Instead, the process will prevent the detection of the same product key being used in multiple devices, allowing you to reactivate another computer. While the instructions outlined above will uninstall the product key, the process won't remove the activation from the Microsoft servers. Once you complete the steps, you are ready to use the product key to activate the same edition of Windows 10 on a new system. Quick tip: If you don't see the "Uninstalled product key successfully" message, you may need to run the command multiple times until the message shows up.Type the following command to remove the current product key and press Enter: slmgr /upk.Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option. To remove the product key on Windows 10, use these steps: You only have to remove the license from the system, and then you can apply the same key on the new computer. On a computer with a retail license of Windows 10, you can transfer the product key to a new device. How to transfer a product key to a new PC on Windows 10 Also, if you upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 10 Home by purchasing the upgrade through the Microsoft Store, you can transfer the license to a new computer because the product key will be converted into a digital license linked to your Microsoft account. In this case, the product key is not transferable, and you are not allowed to use it to activate another device. If you have a computer pre-installed with Windows 10, such as a Surface Laptop 4 or a Dell XPS 13, you are dealing with an "OEM" license. The only problem is that sometimes, you may still encounter activation errors, which you may not resolve until you contact Microsoft support directly and explain the situation. Generally speaking, you do not have a limit on the number of times you can transfer a license as long as you deactivate the previous installation, so you're not using the same product key on more than one system. If you plan to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 with a retail copy, you can also move the product key to another device. If you purchased a Retail license of Windows 10, you are entitled to transfer the product key to another computer. I’m using the Ionic CLI to generate my project and NodeJS version 14.16. This tutorial requires some basic knowledge of React. Part two of this guide covers how to integrate OneSignal with React using our npm package. Part one of this guide covers the OneSignal setup process. This tutorial will cover how to integrate the new React OneSignal NPM package to add push notifications into your app using our typical setup process. This lets you deliver asynchronous notifications and updates to users who opt-in, resulting in better engagement with timely new content. Your browser’s Push API gives web applications the ability to receive messages from a server whether the web app is in the foreground or currently loaded on a user agent. This tutorial will show you how to integrate with OneSignal to leverage push notifications in your ReactJS app. It’s no secret that push notifications can help you engage and retain app users. This is the blocking step on Brave (notifications are NEVER displayed by this welcome notification or any other notifications). The following is guest blog post from Pato Vargas, Developer Advocate at OneSignal. On Firefox (and Chrome), after authorization and registration for notifications, we receive the welcome notification : Using the example, on Brave, NO notification (which must be received after the request for authorization of the notifications, so after what you watch on your previous video). On Chrome we get a return of /api/v1/notifications that displays the notification. Up to 8 secondes on Chrome’s video and 7 secondes on Brave’s, everything is OK and similar. Watch the two videos of my initial message. To see it, compare it, and understand it, you have to use another browser. What you watch there are the first two steps I say that works with Brave. But on Brave, no notification is received, nor the one of welcome, nor the following ones: Once done, we receive in theory a first welcome notification that confirms the correct registration (as shown by Chrome, where everything is OK), then regular notifications. The request for authorization of the notifications by the browser works. Some examples of sites using these OneSignal notifications. On Brave it is blocked, so the notification is not received. If you are already planning on getting a tattoo to honor your family, then you can easily add in some bees if you were looking for some additional images or symbols. You can even take the design a step further to emphasize this meaning by putting the initials or full names of family members above the bees. Obviously this is even a better tattoo for people who already like bees, but plenty of people who never cared about bees end up getting one of these simply to use this bee tattoo meaning. Remember that bees are very family oriented and loyal, so there really aren’t too many better symbols of family out there. Those who are looking for a cool and unique way to symbolize family might find the bee tattoo to be an excellent choice. If you do use this meaning, you might want to include other symbols of chaos and destruction in your tattoo or you can just make the bees themselves look aggressive and chaotic. The bee hive or just a set of bees in the design can be a great way to show this. This can be a very negative meaning for some, but more often than not it is simply someone saying that they recognize that life is chaos and they are built to deal with it. Thanks to their hives being used during ancient wars, bees have also become a symbol of destruction and chaos for some people. That has a deep meaning for some people and they want to express their desire to be that soulful with their bee tattoos. Regardless of where they are working or how many times they have been thrown off track, at the end of the day they will always make it back to their hives. That’s why bee tattoos are great designs to get when you want to get a symbol that represents protection on your body.īees are also seen as one of the most soulful insects in existence because they always know where their homes are. They will also do anything to protect their queen, so expect at least one of them to come after you if you try to mess with the queen of their hives. The message might not come across strongly enough with just a bee tattoo, though, so they might incorporate other designs to make the message clearer.īelieve it or not, bees are not out to get you, but they will sacrifice themselves in order to protect their hives. People who get the bee tattoo might want to show that they have strong love in their lives, or they could get it to show that they are loving people. A bee’s dedication to its fellow bees is pretty much unmatched. All of that hard work that they put in every day is solely to help the flock, which pretty much the definition of loyalty.įor the same reason, the bee tattoo can be used to symbolize love. No matter what they go through throughout the day, they will always try to return to the hive to help out their fellow bees. That is because loyalty is one of the bee’s best qualities. If someone is or wants to be a loyal person, they might just get a bee tattoo. I think they were worried, perhaps reasonably, that their fanbase are too old and/or drugged up to notice an R going missing. Ion Fury used to be called Ion Maiden but then the band Iron Maiden got shitty and made them change it to something that doesn’t mean anything. And besides, playing a retro FPS on consoles is like driving a car in high heels and with socks on your hands ‘cos you needed somewhere to put them after you changed into the high heels. We don’t need a theme we’re super cas, fuck you. Hey, that’s also a retro-style sprite-based FPS and it also just came out on consoles, is this a theme? No. So let’s talk about another game I still haven’t finished, Ion Fury. Whereupon the “you done fucked up” music kicks in, everything starts darting about yelling at me in hilarious regional accents, I get flustered, cockups keep cascading, I blow my own legs off with a cluster bomb and frankly I just don’t want to keep playing as it’s upsetting to be constantly reminded of my last disastrous attempt at a workplace massacre.Īnd that’s why I didn’t play it long enough to review it properly, but I’m sure you’ll forgive me ‘cos we’re all super cas here. The procedural levels get very samey and after the difficulty ramped up I’d turn a corner and somehow six dudes would have all very procedurally decided to hang around the same coffee machine. And I wonder if Void Bastards has a similar thing going on, that it might be trying to evoke the central theme by making you feel like you’re trapped forever in a repetitive bureaucratic purgatory.īecause well done if it is, but I rapidly get sick of it. It makes me think of when people told me to give Pathologic a chance and I said it made me bored and confused and they said “That’s the idea! It’s a game designed to evoke the banality and confusion of being a sad Russian doctor that everyone wants to punch.” In which case I congratulate the excellent job it did realising those intentions but I’m still not going to play it anymore. The narrator makes us search the network of derelicts for the specific crafting items that will advance the plot, and the plot usually advances to “find another bunch of specific crafting items.” But after playing for a while, I had no idea what I was working towards, story-wise. I liked the cynical comedy tone and the way it effectively created this sense of being trapped in a forgotten sub-sub-butthole of a vast, hideous interstellar bureaucracy. So tonewise it’s what you’d get if you locked Borderlands in a succession of small restrictive maps and forced it to listen to Hitch Hiker’s Guide To The Galaxy audiobooks while smashing its fingers with a hammer every twenty minutes.Īnd at first, I rather liked it. Void Bastards concerns a prison transport ship lost in some distant armpit of space where an AI voiced by the bloke who narrated The Stanley Parable who really seems to be cornering the market on faintly sinister budget Stephen Fry impersonations, thaws out a succession of prisoners to go aboard derelict vessels and loot them for resources and crafting materials while fending off a variety of insane mutant humans that keep yelling at them in overdone comedy voices. Ah, but Void Bastards has something else that helps it stand out as different to all the other indie games – it’s also a roguelite. Void Bastards is a first person shooter with retro-style graphics complete with sprite-based enemies, the kind of thing we’ll probably keep seeing a lot of in indie games until nostalgia trends move on from the retro FPS era to the age of post-9/11 neo-conservatism. And it just came out on consoles, so hey, this is almost relevant. So what did you play? Well, I did play quite a bit of Void Bastards, because the title drew me in with two of my favourite things – nihilism and swearing. Heyyy that’s cool with me ‘cos I’m super cas. Not really, I spent most of the week leaning on jukeboxes and making double finger guns at the sexy honeys. Thus, when port forwarding is needed it must be configured at both routers - not just on the host router.Ī Client Mode router uses its own DHCP server for IP Address, Gateway, and DNS server to connected devices. The primary and secondary (DD-WRT Client Mode) routers must be on separate subnets, and NAT is used between them. The primary (host) router is not required to be running DD-WRT firmware. It is not seen as a WAP, nor accepts wireless connections by other client devices. A Client Mode router connects to a Wireless Access Point (WAP) wireless connection as the WAN interface, and shares the internet connection only to the LAN ports, or a separate WAP for multi-radio routers. It is a wireless connection between two routers only, usually to the primary gateway router. As an alternate option, you can also tap on the wired client and select the Power cycle setting from the advanced menu ( ) of the Clients Details screen for the wired client. This mode is NOT for WIRED connections between two routers, like an Access Point. The row displays a message that the client is being power cycled.
